Whether you’re an amateur or a veteran, the Celestron NexStar 6SE Maksutov-Cassegrain computerized telescope is a great choice for astronomers who want the clearest image of celestial objects regardless of how dark and distant they are. This telescope has a number of features to enhance image quality and eliminate the visual distortions common to scopes of lesser quality. The Celestron 6SE has a staggering 1500mm focal length to ensure that no planet or nebula is too distant to observe. The optical system features Celestron’s XLT high transmission coating to reduce light loss that leads to dimmer images. Celestron’s advanced coma-free optical design flattens the image and eliminates the phantom tails that can appear around stars and achieves aplanatic performance. The telescope is mounted on a motorized mount that includes Celestron’s NexStar computer system that provides a whole range of features like GPS tracking, an automated object finder and a library of over 40,000 celestial objects. With all of these features, the NexStar 6SE is a great choice for stargazers who want the best image and performance from a telescope.
Ultra-High Transmission Lens Coating
Reflecting telescopes function by capturing light through a lens and bouncing it off the surface of a series of mirrors into an eyepiece where you observe that light as an image. The downside to this type of optical set up is that a little bit of the light is lost every time it bounces off a mirror. So, the dimmer the object you’re viewing, the darker the image will appear in your eyepiece. Celestron’s solution to this problem is their XLT high transmission coating. This coating effectively increases the amount of light transferred from the lens to the eyepiece, ensuring a brighter, clearer image regardless of what you’re looking at.
NexStar Computer System
In addition to the physical features the 6SE sports, there’s also an on-board NexStar computer system that provides a range of benefits to users. The computer comes with a library of 40,000 objects pre-loaded into it and the GPS system that’s included ensures the telescope will quickly and accurately home in on any of those objects with only a few button presses. There are also multiple pre-programmed guided tours of the sky so you can stargaze without having to manually readjust the scope every time you look at something else.
Motorized Tripod Mount
All NexStar models feature an aluminum tripod mount that provides automated movement to align with any object programmed into the onboard computer system. It also includes a camera control feature that allows you to remotely take a series of timed exposures using your digital SLR camera. Plus, the tripod features a built-in wedge that helps make short-exposure astrophotography a heavenly experience.
