A bright f/2.8 lens combined with the full-frame sensor of each EOS R series digital camera allows for fast shutter speeds in low light with less noise and the ability to beautifully blur the background in close-up shooting or video recording.
Stepping motor (gear-type STM) that provides smooth and quiet continuous AF
Using a stepping motor in the RF16mm F2.8 STM lens aids in natural focus while following a subject using Servo AF in still photography, or clean transitions when repositioning to another subject with Movie Servo AF in video applications. Canon’s STM focus motors are especially renowned for their smoothness in focus changes during live video recording, as well as brisk AF during still-image shooting.

The compact size and light weight of the lens makes it an ideal companion on long hikes and excursions. It is also handy for a day out in the city and when you want to be creative with multiple prime lenses.

The RF16mm F2.8 STM lens incorporates a control/focus ring on the lens barrel. As a Control Ring, it can directly adjust numerous settings including shutter speed, aperture, exposure compensation and more. Located towards the end of the lens, the control/focus ring has a tactile, easily distinguished surface and provides tangible feedback for confident use while looking through the viewfinder.
Circular 7-blade aperture helps deliver beautiful, soft backgrounds.
You'll have no problem when shooting close-up images in getting that creative, fun and pleasantly smooth out-of-focus background blur we all love with the circular 7-blade aperture. Subjects will stand out, and the background provides a beautiful backdrop that's visually appealing.

You will receive a full refund when you return an item in its original manufacturer’s packaging, undamaged and unmarked. If the item you are returning is priced at less than $35, you will be charged a 15% restocking fee. Please note you will not be refunded any shipping charges.

If your order has been noticeably damaged in transit, we strongly recommend that you refuse delivery and notify us immediately. Claims for missing items or items damaged in transit must be made within 48 hours of delivery.
