Pentax HD PENTAX-D FA 21mm f/2.4ED Limited DC WR Lens (Black)

This Pentax HD FA 21mm f/2.4ED Limited DC WR Lens is the newest model of the Pentax Limited series of lenses, it is designed for use with Pentax K-mounted full-frame digital SLR cameras. It's also the first D FA-series lens in the Pentax Limited series lineup, designed to improve the visual characteristics of digital images. The image circle of 35mm full-frame digital SLR cameras are covered by this ultra-wide-angle lens. The 21mm ultra-wide-angle focal length, which was previously unavailable in the FA Limited series, gives a new perspective of visual expression for the Limited series.

Exclusive Limited-Series Quality

This lens is created to deliver a unique visual expression, in maintaining the Limited series design concept. It ensures consistent, uniform image rendering across the image field when used for distant scenes like landscapes. It produces bright, clear, high-resolution images, even at the edges, by closing the aperture down. Its optical characteristics change for close-range photography. At open aperture, the lens provides a mild bokeh (defocused) effect in the background while capturing the main subject in sharp, crisp focus, allowing you to make the subject stand out against a defocused background, with the exaggerated perspective typical of ultra-wide-angle lenses. It can produce a range of visual expressions depending on the subject being captured, even at a minimum focusing distance of 18 cm. The lens barrel, hood, and cap are all meticulously machined from high-grade aluminum for a pleasing look and feel.

Exceptional Optics

To minimize chromatic aberration and prevent color bleeding, the lens optics incorporates four ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass and one Super ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass optical element, not only in the main in-focus area but also in the surrounding defocused areas. The lens also incorporates a large-aperture negative meniscus optical element, a biconvex aspherical glass-mold optical element, and a high-refraction glass optical element to drastically reduce size despite the ultra-wide-angle design, while delivering outstanding imaging performance for sharp, and clear images. The lens also features Pentax-original HD Coating. This high-grade multi-layer coating reduces the average reflectance in the visible spectrum to less than 50 percent, significantly decreasing flare and ghost images even under challenging lighting situations such as backlighting, when compared to conventional multi-layer coatings.

Electromagnetic Diaphragm Mechanism

When used with compatible digital SLR cameras, this lens features an electromagnetic diaphragm mechanism that ensures high-precision exposure control. It ensures worry-free video shooting in environments with significant brightness changes, such as a stage with rapidly changing lighting conditions or a forest with filtering sun rays.
