Sony Alpha FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM Wide-Angle Zoom Lens

Open up a whole new world of creativity with its exceptional G-Master performance and 16-35mm f/2.8 wide-angle zoom. The lens captures high definition images from one side of the frame to the other. It can produce beautiful bokeh effects that adds depth and impact to your images. On top of the performance, the compact design of the lens makes it easier for active shooting sessions.

Constant f/2.8 Maximum Aperture

The exposure and depth of field regardless of the focal range to which you zoom is maintained due to the constant f/2.8 maximum aperture. The areas out of the focal plane appear blurred when you change your aperture to defocus the background. Circular aperture blades used in the lens enhances the bokeh effect of the blurred background.

G Master Design

Sony’s G Master lenses are designed to take full advantage of high-resolution image sensors at any focal length or zoom setting. Combination of smooth bokeh and high-resolution ensures incredible clear and detailed image reproduction with contrast throughout every frame. G Master achieves the rare combination of high resolving power and beautifully rendered background defocus.

Minimum Abberations

To minimize aberrations, this lens combines two extreme aspherical (XA) elements with extremely high surface precision (better that 0.01-micron) and three aspherical elements. Distortion, field curvature, and astigmatism are effectively controlled and deliver ultimate corner-to-corner resolution throughout the entire zoom and aperture range.

Two ED Glass Element

Two ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass elements maximizes the resolution and bokeh while leaving precisely rendered edges with minimal fringing or unnatural coloration. This all is done when it takes axial chromatic aberration and chromatic aberration due to differences in magnification out of the picture.

Two Direct Drive Supersonic Wave Motors (DDSSM)

This lens provides absolute focus precision. For both stills and movies, a floating mechanism driven by two DDSM (Direct Drive Supersonic Wave Motors) actuators maintain outstanding resolution from infinity to close focus. DDSSM has the capability to position the large, heavy optical assemblies required by large-aperture lenses with pinpoint precision, offering accurate, fast and quiet autofocus. Manual focus response is natural and intuitive with the DDSSM system.

Nano Anti-Reflective Coating

Even in difficult outdoor lighting conditions, minimize flare and ghosting by suppressing internal reflections and maintaining clarity with Sony’s original Nano Anti-Reflective Coating technology. This precisely defined regular nano-structure allows accurate light transmission, contributing to high-quality images, more so than with lenses that use coatings with an irregular nano-structure.

Sony Alpha FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM Wide-Angle Zoom Lens

Sony Alpha FE 16-35mm f/2.8 GM Wide-Angle Zoom Lens SKU: SEL1635GM

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for portraits especially for low lighting. It was not cheap in price but worth every Penney of it. I use it for selling my advertising for newspapers and magazines. I tell clients Will Rogers said I never met a man I didn't like. I say I never took a picture that you are not going to like!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed My lense failed me in the middle of an event. Thank God I had some other lenses to continue working but hey… this is a very expensive lense and I had never a problem with Zeiss.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Remarkably Shart After 40 years as a Canon shooter I have made the big leap over to Sony mirrorless and am not looking back. I was slow to make the switch due to the dozen lenses I would ultimately want to replace. But I have been impressed with both the bodies and lenses. This lens is no exception. It is remarkably sharp and quick to auto-focus. Love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why Did I Wait So Long To Get This Lens?! Shame on me for waiting for so long to get this lens. It has now become my sole filming lens on my Sony a7 IV for all of my vlogs. Yes, it's heavier than the Sony 20mm f/1.8 but the wider reach makes up for that. It's super sharp and helps to make my footage look fantastic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Sharp Lens I really do like this lens a lot. I do a lot of backpacking, so size and weight are an issue. Most of my landscape shots hover right around 24mm in focal length, which makes this lens perfect. I also really like taking Astrophotography Landscapes, and again, this lens performs very well in that department. Overall, I am very happy with it. If I had to knock one thing, and maybe this is just life of a 16-35mm, so it might be a mute point. I rarely do focus stacking when shooting, my preferred method is to get back further and use more of a telephoto, say around 50mm, which obviously I can't with this lens. So when I am up close I sometimes focus stack, and I noticed this lens has a lot of "Focus Breathing." Since this is my first 16-35 lens on a full frame camera, it just might be the way of a 16-35. I have nothing to compare.
