10 Low-Dispersion Glass Elements

To provide excellent correction of color aberration, nine FLD (F Low Dispersion) glass elements and an SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass element, in total ten exclusive low-dispersion glass elements are incorporated. From the center to the corners, extremely high resolution is realized, making the lens capable of meeting the most demanding needs of professional photographers in various shooting conditions. By optimizing spherical aberration, a smooth and natural bokeh effect is ensured making the lens perfect for portrait photography.

Customization Is Possible to Improve Versatility

An AF Function button is provided to allocate various functions. By selecting it from the menu on camera bodies, or using the included Sigma USB Dock, functions other than AF Lock can be allocated too. It expands shooting styles, depending on the user’s preference. In addition, the tripod socket with 90 degree-click stops, made with a magnesium alloy which is both lightweight and tough, is incorporated to ensure easier changes of shooting position from vertical to horizontal and vice versa. It can be attached directly to an Arca Swiss type clamp.

The Sigma USB dock works in conjunction with Sigma Optimization Pro software in order to connect a photographers lens to their personal computer to update firmware, calibrate the lens and other customizations such as the focus parameter. The dock is only compatible with the Sigma Art, Contemporary, and Sports line lenses featuring a Nikon F lens mount. For the Sports category, changes can be made to: Autofocus speed, focus limiters, manual focus override and optical stabilization functionality. Updating the firmware can be done via the internet. Sigma Photo Pro is available for Mac and PC computers.

AF Speed and Optical Stabilizer Modes

For all lines of lenses, there are four categories for prime lenses and 16 categories (four options for focal length, four options for shooting distance) for zoom lenses available. These categories allow you to set up certain focusing settings to better suit your personal shooting style. If using a Sports line lens, additional lens configurations are also available. The dock features three different AF speed modes to modify how quickly the lens changes focus. You can also constrain focus distances within a specific range to suit your personal shooting habits.
