The Sigma 12-24mm F4 DG HSM Art is a premium full frame wide angle zoom designed to have minimal distortion in its wide angle imagery. Part of the Art line, the Sigma 12-24mm F4 DG HSM Art was created from decades of experience manufacturing wide-angle lenses. FLD glass elements, with performance equal to fluorite, provide for exceptional image quality while an updated Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) uses 1.3X the torque for quick AF. A constant F4 aperture through the entire zoom range allows for greater ability in low light compared to previous models and the use of the largest aspherical element in the industry controls distortion, ghosting and flaring. An emphasis on edge to edge performance brings stunningly sharp and contrasty images to life. Ideal for many types of photography, the 12-24mm F4 Art is perfect for landscape photography, architecture photography, interior photography and much more.
Art Lens
Engineered for those who see photography as an expression of self, Sigma’s Art line offers sophisticated optical performance and abundant expressive power to deliver faithfully on your artistic vision.
DG - DG for Digital
Sigma's DG lenses are specifically designed to deliver the ultimate level of performance on full frame digital SLRs. Sigma DGs also maximize the abilities of 35mm SLR cameras and APS-C size DSLRs. Thanks to a complete and comprehensive approach to the correction of chromatic aberrations, you will experience incredible image clarity and smoothness. Specific attention was paid to helping eliminate color fringing often caused by lateral chromatic aberration, a problem that is magnified at high resolution in digital photography. DG lenses provide exceptionally high contrast along with subtle gradations in tone and color. Super Multi-Layer Coating, along with Sigma's optimized optical design work to reduce reflections between the image sensor and the lens surfaces. The large image circles of DG lenses mean there will always be enough peripheral illumination to avoid vignetting.
HSM - Quiet and Fast Autofocusing
HSM lenses employ a motor powered by ultrasonic waves that produce a quiet, yet high-speed AutoFocus. You can enjoy high performance with low noise in a variety of shooting situations.
Low Dispersion Glass
The Sigma 12-24mm f/4 DG HSM Art Lens features optical elements made with FLD (“F” Low Dispersion) glass, equivalent to fluorite in performance. This, combined with an optimized power distribution help to minimize distortion, transverse chromatic aberration, and coma flare.
80mm Aspherical Lens
The Sigma 12-24mm f/4 DG HSM Art Lens boasts an 80mm large-diameter molded glass aspherical lens, regarded as the largest such element in this class of lens. This lens is highly effective in minimizing distortion, spherical aberration, and coma flare--a complement to its overall composition.
f/4 Brightness Throughout the Zoom Range
Compared to conventional lenses, the Sigma 12-24mm f/4 DG HSM Art Lens is one stop brighter on account of its aperture of f/4 throughout the ensure zoom range. This enables the avid photographer to use a higher shutter speed to capture fast moving subject in crisp, sharp detail. With a fixed aperture that remains constant while zooming, this lens is exceptionally easy to use.
Mount with Dust & Splash-Proof Construction
Rubber sealing incorporated into the design of the Sigma 12-24mm f/4 DG HSM Art Lens protect the mount from dust and water drops. Additionally, both the front and rear lenses feature a water- and oil-repellent coating that comes in handy when capturing images in drizzle, near ocean spray, and a wide variety of other conditions.
