Outdoor shooters will appreciate the dust- and splash-proof construction with special sealing at the mount connection, manual focus ring, zoom ring, and cover connection. With the growing popularity in multi-camera VR videography, a new Front Conversion Service is available to convert to a round hood for these specialized applications. DG - DG for Digital

Sigma's DG lenses are specifically designed to deliver the ultimate level of performance on full frame digital SLRs. Sigma DGs also maximize the abilities of 35mm SLR cameras and APS-C size DSLRs. Thanks to a complete and comprehensive approach to the correction of chromatic aberrations, you will experience incredible image clarity and smoothness. Specific attention was paid to helping eliminate color fringing often caused by lateral chromatic aberration, a problem that is magnified at high resolution in digital photography. DG lenses provide exceptionally high contrast along with subtle gradations in tone and color. Super Multi-Layer Coating, along with Sigma's optimized optical design work to reduce reflections between the image sensor and the lens surfaces. The large image circles of DG lenses mean there will always be enough peripheral illumination to avoid vignetting.

Outstanding Image Quality

Designed to team up with 50MP-plus cameras and offer top-level optical performance throughout the zoom range, the 14-24mm F2.8 DG HSM | Art incorporates 3 FLD glass elements, 3 SLD glass elements, and 3 aspherical lens elements, including 1 large-diameter aspherical element. Effective distribution of these high-refractive-index glass elements further enhances the corrective effect of the FLD and SLD glass. This optical system minimizes transverse chromatic aberration and other optical aberrations, resulting in outstanding high-resolution image quality.

The first element in the optical system is a large-diameter aspherical lens. Optimizing the power distribution of this and the other lens elements minimizes distortion to 1% or lower at infinity focus. As a result, points of light appear as points without streaking from the center of the image to the edge, and the light volume is also abundant throughout the frame. In addition, simulations performed from the design stage onward have helped minimize flare and ghosting.

Canon Lens Aberration Correction

This lens is compatible with the Canon Lens Aberration Correction function. Matching the optical characteristics of the lens, these functions perform in-camera corrections of peripheral illumination, chromatic aberrations, distortion, and more.
