Sigma's 24mm DG Lens is specifically designed to deliver the ultimate level of performance on full-frame DSLRs. It maximizes the abilities of both 35mm SLR cameras and APS-C size DSLRs. Thanks to a complete and comprehensive approach to the correction of chromatic aberrations, you will experience incredible image clarity and smoothness. Specific attention was paid to help eliminate color fringing often caused by lateral chromatic aberration, a problem that is magnified at high resolution in digital photography. The lens provides exceptionally high contrast along with subtle gradations in tone and color.

Compatibility

With class leading performance, this lens is ideal for wedding photography, landscape photography, videography, astrophotography, lowlight/indoor photography and event photography. The Sigma 24mm Art is compatible with the USB dock to update and customize and is also compatible with the Mount Conversion Service.

Optimized Design

The lens comes with a Super Multi-Layer Coating that along with Sigma's optimized optical design reduces reflections between the image sensor and the lens surfaces. The large image circles of the lens ensure that there will always be enough peripheral illumination to avoid vignetting.

Quiet and Fast Autofocusing

The lens employs a motor powered by ultrasonic waves that produce a quiet, yet high-speed AutoFocus. You can enjoy high performance with low noise in a variety of shooting situations.

Minimized Sagittal Coma Flare

Sagittal coma flare is the aberration in which a point light source appears as a streak instead of a point, and it affects large-diameter lenses in particular. By positioning aspherical lens elements toward the rear of the 24mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art, the angle of incidence of light is adjusted for optimal power distribution. Even at wide-open aperture, you will enjoy outstanding image quality. Since streaking of point light sources toward the edges of the image is minimized, this lens is a powerful ally in photographing celestial bodies, nighttime.

Flare and Ghosting Reduction

From an early stage in the lens design process, flare, and ghosting have been measured to establish an optical design resistant to strong incident light sources such as backlighting. Sigma’s Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting to help photographers produce sharp and high contrast images even in backlit conditions. The included lens hood can be attached to block out extraneous light, which can have a negative effect on rendering performance.

Sigma USB Dock for Canon Lenses

The Sigma USB dock works in conjunction with Sigma Optimization Pro software in order to connect a photographers lens to their personal computer to update firmware, calibrate the lens and other customizations such as the focus parameter. The dock is only compatible with the Sigma Art, Contemporary, and Sports line lenses featuring a Canon EF lens mount. For the Sports category, changes can be made to: Autofocus speed, focus limiters, manual focus override and optical stabilization functionality. Updating the firmware can be done via the internet. Sigma Photo Pro is available for Mac and PC computers.

AF Speed and Optical Stabilizer Modes

For all lines of lenses, there are four categories for prime lenses and 16 categories (four options for focal length, four options for shooting distance) for zoom lenses available. These categories allow you to set up certain focusing settings to better suit your personal shooting style. If using a Sports line lens, additional lens configurations are also available. The dock features three different AF speed modes to modify how quickly the lens changes focus. You can also constrain focus distances within a specific range to suit your personal shooting habits. Plus, the dock includes three Optical Stabilizer modes to suit the manner in which you are shooting. Sigma Photo Pro is available for Mac and PC computers.
