Sigma introduces I Series to the Contemporary lineup featuring lenses that are compact, high-performance optics for mirrorless camera systems. This new series features 35mm f/2 DG DN Contemporary, a versatile prime lens with a compact form-factor and maximum aperture of f/2, providing high optical performance. Compact and lightweight design makes it portable enough to be carried around in a small kitbag for day-to-day shooting.

Optical Performance

The 35mm f/2 DG DN | Contemporary’s optical design uses three high-precision glass-molded aspherical lenses that correct spherical aberration and field curvature, and suppress flare and the fluctuation of aberration at the time of focusing. Axial chromatic aberration is taken care by SLD glass, while an optimal placement of high-refractive index elements provides effective correction of various types of aberration. The lens design also provides a very good correction of sagittal coma aberration, which is perfect for night sky photography.

Quiet Focusing

The 35mm f/2 DG DN Contemporary Lens’ smooth focus drive system uses a quiet and fast stepping motor that allows for quick, near silent focusing, making this lens a suitable choice for shooting video.

All-Metal Build

This I Series lens comes with an all-metal construction. It features precision-cut aluminum parts that give the barrel a sleek, stylish finish, but provide superb durability. Metal materials are also used in internal structures that slide with the operation ring for added robustness. Plus, the lens has a cover ring between the focus ring and the aperture ring that functions as a finger hold when attaching or detaching the lens.
