Sony HXR-NX80 Compact 1-Inch (1.0-Type) NXCAM Camcorder

The Sony HXR-NX80 Compact 1-inch (1.0-type) NXCAM Camcorder is one of the first camcorders from Sony to feature phase detection Auto Focus (AF). This palm-sized camcorder is ideal for video enthusiasts, corporate and event use, broadcast news, and TV production.

Professional 4K and Full HD

The HXR-NX80 records 4K (3840 x 2160) using the advanced XAVC-S codec and you can capture XAVC-S Full HD at 50 Mbps. This advanced recording system combines stunning picture quality with workflow flexibility and storage efficiency. For compatibility with legacy systems, the camera also offers AVCHD recording.

1.0-type Stacked Exmor RS CMOS Image Sensor

The Sony HXR-NX80 combines fast and reliable AF adapted for video shooting with a 1.0-type stacked Exmor RS CMOS image sensor. It supports 4K HDR recording with Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG), offering an Instant HDR workflow to produce high-quality HDR content smoothly. The Instant HDR Workflow enables simple shooting, editing and viewing of HDR content in HLG, without the need for color grading during post production.

Fast Hybrid AF System

Enhanced Fast Hybrid auto focus (AF) comprises a number of features: phase-detection AF with up to 273 reference points covering approximately 84% of the image area, face detection and lock-on auto focus technology to estimate subject movement. They all work together seamlessly to capture fast-moving subjects with amazing sharpness.

OLED Viewfinder - 3.5-inch LCD Screen

Incorporated into the design of the Sony HXR-NX80 camcorder is a high-resolution OLED viewfinder and advanced touch screen operation. The camcorder's 3.5-type large LCD screen, lets users to quickly switch focus from one subject to another. The AF Drive Speed, Tracking Depth Range and Subject Switching Sensitivity can all be configured as required for different subjects and content styles.

Instant High Dynamic Range (HDR)

With the ability to reproduce images from deep shadows to piercing highlights, 4K High Dynamic Range (HDR) televisions are sweeping the market and demand for HDR production is booming. While internet video, corporate and event producers recognize the benefits of HDR, they still need to deliver content quickly and effectively. The HXR-NX80 meets this demand with Sony’s Instant HDR workflow. Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) recording captures HDR, yet plays back beautifully on both HDR and conventional monitors and televisions. There’s no need to devote extra time to post-production work and color grading. For added versatility, the camera also provides S-Log3 encoding.

Dual Memory Card Slots

Workflow efficiency benefits such as proxy recording, relay recording, and simultaneous backup recording are also delivered thanks to the Sony HXR-NX80's dual memory card slots. It also sports multi-camera operation capabilities supported by TC (time code)/UB (user bit).

Enhanced Operability

For enhanced and versatile operability, the Sony HXR-NX80 is fitted with a REMOTE terminal, Multi-Interface Shoe, and HDMI Type A port. It's also equipped with a dual XLR audio input, detachable handle, and access to Content Browser Mobile. Content Browser Mobile is a smartphone app that lets you get the most out of your camcorder by enabling Wi-Fi monitoring, camcorder remote control, and wireless timecode sync between multiple cameras.
