Sony Alpha 20mm f/2.8 E-Mount Prime Lens

Not only will the 20mm (30mm in 35mm full-frame format) focal length and f/2.8 maximum aperture appeal to experienced photographers, but the outstanding resolution of this lens will satisfy their most stringent image quality requirements as well. Three aspheric elements help to achieve superb contrast and resolution right out to the image edges, while simultaneously enabling a compact 20.4 mm-thick pancake design that makes for a portable combination with compact E-mount cameras. The sleek aluminum design adds a stylish touch wherever you’re shooting.

Broaden Your View with a Wide Angle

From a vast cliff to a stretching sandy beach, fit everything in with a 20 mm wide angle (30 mm in 35 mm equivalent focal length), with interchangeable-lens cameras incorporating APS-C type image sensor.

Rich Detail from Corner to Corner

Three parts inside the lens work together to fix blur and distortion, even the outer edges of your photos will be crisp and clear.

Keep Bulk to a Minimum

Preparing for a day’s shoot? Slip this ‘pancake’ lens into your kit bag, a focal length of just 20 mm won’t take up much space.

Get Hands-On with Smooth Manual Focusing

An easy-grip ring on the lens barrel helps you control whether your subject is sharply in focus or blurred against the background.

Low Light? No Problem

This fixed lens has a bright, wide aperture of f/2.8 so you can capture atmospheric shots even at dusk.

Aspherical Lens Elements

Aspherical lens design dramatically reduces spherical aberration while also reducing lens size and weight. Spherical aberration is a slight misalignment of the light rays projected on the image plane. This is caused by differences in refraction at different points on conventional spherical lenses which degrade image quality in large-aperture lenses. Specially shaped “aspherical” elements near the diaphragm restore alignment of light rays at the image plane, maintaining high sharpness and contrast even at maximum aperture and can also be used at other points in the optical path to reduce distortion. Well-designed aspherical elements can reduce the total number of elements required in the lens, thus reducing overall size and weight.

Fast Focusing

A rear focusing mechanism means the lens barrel doesn't move, enabling a more compact design, faster autofocus response, and reduced minimum focusing distances.

Circular Aperture

When changing your aperture to defocus the background, the light sources appear blurred. This ‘bokeh’ effect of the blurred background can be enhanced with circular aperture blades used in this lens. Conventional aperture blades have flat sides creating unappealing polygonal shaped defocussed points of light. α lenses overcome this problem through a unique design that keeps the aperture almost perfectly circular from its wide-open setting to when it is closed by 2 stops. Smoother, more natural defocusing can be obtained as a result.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small and sharp on center. Small, well built with very sharp results. A great match for the a6000.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Little Lens This lens is the sprit of the compact mirrorless cameras. Super compact, sharp great all round..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very portable This isn't the sharpest lens, but it is still pretty very sharp in the center and gets a little soft in the corners. But it is so portable. It feels like a point and shoot with the a6000.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A good lens for the value I have been using this wide angle lens since July 2013 and it has become my go to lens for landscapes and portraits. Basically, I use it for all kinds of photo taking. The lens produces great photos in natural light. My photos are sharp and vibrant. I've attached an unedited photo.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good general wide angle lens After reading the mediocre reviews for the SEL16F28, I ended up trying this lens (SEL20F28). The lens has proved to be very handy, and I am generally happy with the photos. The photos are sharp, but low light scenes may be a little dark with some vignetting. Two jpeg photos are uploaded for review. There was no post processing except for cropping both pictures to reduce them to the 5mb limit for this review.
