Vortex Solo 8x36 Monocular

The Vortex Solo 8x36 Monocular was built to be kept close at hand, giving you a consistent high quality resolution in a highly portable package. The Solo sports fully multicoated optics that increase light transmission in the roof prism design. Housed in a robust rubber armored exterior, these binoculars are a great choice for any situation rain or shine. Keep quality optics close at hand with the incredibly compact and portable Solo 8x36 Monocular.

Optical Features

The Vortex Solo 8x36 Monocular features fully multi-coated lenses which increase light transmission with multiple anti-reflective coatings on all air-to-glass surfaces. The dedicated roof prism houses an objective lens with a diameter of 36mm and can magnify up to 8 times the normal view. With a linear field of view of 393ft @ 1000 yards and an angular field of view of 7.5°, this versatile monocular will help you see further than you ever thought you could.

Construction

Don't worry about the weather because the 8x36 monocular is waterproof and prevents fogging so you can see at longer distances for longer periods of time. The monocular is sealed with O-rings to prevent moisture, dust, and debris from getting inside the barrel. The barrels are filled with Nitrogen gas to inhibit internal fogging and other obstructions. The Vortex monocular features a secure, non-slip ergonomic design thanks to the tough rubber armored exterior to provide maximum comfort.

Convenience

The Solo 8x36 Monocular features an adjustable eyecup that you can twist up and down for precise setting that maximizes your comfort. A multi-position utility clip easily connects to you pockets, equipment, or vests.

Returns

Returns are incredibly simple. Please log into your account, find your item you wish to return and follow the prompts to make a return. If you do not have an account, click here to find your order and make a return.
You will receive a full refund when you return an item in its original manufacturer’s packaging, undamaged and unmarked. If the item you are returning is priced at less than $35, you will be charged a 15% restocking fee. Please note you will not be refunded any shipping charges. 
You have 30 days to make a return. During the holiday season, from November 1 to December 31, we extend the return window to 60 days. 
If your order has been noticeably damaged in transit, we strongly recommend that you refuse delivery and notify us immediately. Claims for missing items or items damaged in transit must be made within 48 hours of delivery. If there is carrier damage, please contact support@focuscamera.com with your order number and a description of the damage.

It is no 50x spotting scope but has helped me in many situations. Does exactly what I need it to do. Get me a little closer. It is very clear and I have had no issues with it. Great little optic.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I had monovision lasik surgery and binoculors weren't working out so great afterwards. Hence, I purchased this monocular to give it a try and it worked out very well. I can easily adjust the eyepiece and focus wheel to switch eyes whenever I choose to. The clarity is very good in low light conditions which is when us hunters usually need it most. The monocular is light and easy to carry around by lanyard or utility clip. I have not had the chance to have it out in extreme conditions but can only imagine that this monocular will hold up in all condtions because of the quality.

So far, its been everything that it was advertised to be. It's very convenient for when I just need to take a quick look at something at a medium distance.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far, so good. I enjoy using my Solo Monocular at the range. This Monocular provides a bright image and clear range reticle in a compact easy to carry and store package. Comes with informative instruction manual, carry case and lanyard. One downside, the attached loop used to connect the lanyard broke when I accidentally bumped the Solo off the table at the range. Good news is getting it repaired is just a phone call to Vortex with their lifetime warranty.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor construction After about 2 years of only occasional light use, something inside the mechanism has come loose and is blocking the view. There also appears to be a large smear of what appears to be lubricant on one of the interior glass elements. I attached two photos, one looking through the eyepiece and the other looking back through the objective lens. I keep the monocular in the soft case when not using it, and it has never been abused, dropped, or mishandled. I liked it okay before the problem occurred, although the focus ring was not the easiest to deal with and close focus was never a strong point for this model.

This monocular was never part of my kit, but I sure wish it had been. It is much easier and lighter to carry and still provides great optics. The belt clip makes it very easy to carry and provides easy access. Great piece of equipment for any active outdoor person!!

I have used this optic for a few years of hunting and found it to be tough, lightweight and compact enough that I never want take it out of my gear to cut weight. I have it with me all the time. It gathers light unbelievably for its size, is crystal clear, and easy to operate. The ergonomics are perfect and make finding objects with it super easy and fast. Can't wait to get a 10x36. Thanks Vortex for a ton of great days in the field.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hunter's best friend This is a very sharp picture ultra compact monocular (less than 5 inches long) design to scout terrain while hunting instead of lifting a loaded long rifle in the forest. The 8X magnification allows you a very wide field of view up to medium ranges or when vegetation is dense. It has a built in utility clip to keep it handy or carrying pouch for protection and storage . A most have for hunters. Money well spent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Game changer This optic was the newest addition to the coyote hunting equipment. Boy was everyone mad that I was calling out all the movement. Even while moving in a vehicle this optic made it easy to find targets. It bounced around many times on the dash without showing any signs of damage or reduction in image quality.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good solid product I bought one after taking a trip to Central Europe and standing at the top of the Petřín Lookout Tower wishing I had brought a monocular or binoculars for sightseeing. Its small, light and easy to carry in a pocket. I have taken it camping and to the rifle range. It performs as expected. I am not an optics expert but its light transmission at dusk seems better than I would expect at the price point I paid. On the downsides, like all monoculars its never going to be as good as a pair of binoculars due to how the human vision system works. Also the neoprene case it came with is not as well made as I would like. It presently lives in my car's glove box.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for packing I bought the 8x36 Solo to take on an elk hunt in Colorado this past fall. I have glaucoma in one eye and it makes it a little difficult to see in binocular vision as you get with regular binos. The Solo was very nice to wear during the 9 day trip. I had the Solo on the lanyard around my neck and then clipped to my jacket. With the Solo, you never have to mess with the eye spacing and it is very quick to get on target. I also like the fact that you do not loose your peripheral vision with your other eye. I know a police officer that bought one for that exact reason.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect size! Had this for a while now. Never hit the woods without it. Perfect for picking the old guys from the young bucks without having to shoulder your rifle. Also a great peice for when you fine yourself in the cheap seats! Impressive clarity on early mornings and late evenings. And the perfect weight and size. I use the lanyard and zip it up in my jacket. You forget it’s there till you need it.
