By combining a number of measures, you can achieve an outstanding stray light reduction. This lens is constructed with a Zeiss T coating, and the edges are provided with a special pitch-black lacquer in a complex manual process. The focal length features an individual optical design and special types of glass, reducing the occurrence of color fringes to a minimum.

Future-Proof

Thanks to the low level of stray light allowed by the lens construction, high-contrast pictures are also possible with increasing high dynamic ranges of the sensors (HDR). The reduction of coma, astigmatism, and spherical aberrations allows constant high resolution over the entire image field. This lens features a large rotation angle which allows pinpoint focusing, moving smoothly without backlash, optimally supporting the user's creative interplay with the focal plane of high-speed fixed focal lengths. The changes are instantly visible in the viewfinder or display. The engraving in meters and feet and the focus scale provide additional assistance for manual focusing. The silent, continuous aperture setting and the long focusing range lay optimal conditions for video photography.

Stable Performance

State-of-the-art camera systems and high-resolution digital image sensors are now requiring more performance from the lenses. This lens features a Floating Elements Design, which allows constantly high image performance in the focal plane achieved by changing the axial distance between individual lens elements or element groups. The adjustment of the element spacing is coupled to the distance setting so that it always results in the right correction.

ZF.2 Lens

The ZF.2 lens is compatible with all key modes on camera models equipped with an electronic interface. You can easily lock the aperture ring in the largest f-stop shown in orange. For camera models without the electronic interface, the aperture is manually set on the lens aperture ring, and for certain camera models, it is also possible to set in the menu whether the lens should be selected using the setting dial on the camera or the aperture ring on the lens. Note that there is no halfway notch between the largest and second-largest f-stop. The focused distance is not transmitted to the camera body.
