The purely spherical optical design utilizes special types of glass elements that ensure optimal micro-contrast and extremely low chromatic aberration. This ZE lens model is manually focusable with an electronic shutter control and additional electronic contacts to the camera. It supports all the existing exposure programs (P, AV, TV, M) and the autofocus confirmation function of the camera. Lens information such as the focal length and speed is passed on to the camera. This lens comes with a Canon EF mount and is compatible with the EOS camera bodies, and further cameras with EF mount.
