Designed specifically for Musicians, Podcasters, and Sound Designers, the Zoom H8 Handy Recorder is a portable audio capturing tool. There are three distinct application-driven interface options for Field Recording, Music and Podcasting, which are easily accessed through the recorder’s large color LCD touchscreen display. With these options the Zoom H8 Handy Recorder instantly adapts to any of the feature set required for either capturing audio on location, recording and tracking music, or producing a podcast. The H8 recorder comes packed with industry-leading features like audio fidelity, legendary transparent preamps, and overall dependable performance. It comes supplied with an XYH-6 X/Y microphone capsule that also provides secondary input via a stereo 1/8-inch Mic/Line In mini phone jack. The Zoom H8 Handy Recorder features the same interchangeable capsule system as other versions and is also compatible with three new microphone capsules.

Three Distinct Application Driven Interfaces

This handy recorder offers intuitive 3-way app workflow that can be navigated through a color touchscreen interface. The MUSIC app offers important controls like audio levels, faders and metering at your fingertips. Ideal for location sound, sound design, conferences, and more, the FIELD app gives you instant access to large meters for every track, so you can make sure your recordings never clip. The PODCAST app helps creating simple yet high-quality podcasts. With dedicated Sound Pads, you can use the recorder’s touch screen to trigger sound effects, music beds and much more.

Multiple Inputs

The Zoom H8 Handy Recorder features four XLR and two XLR/TRS combo jacks, with Phantom power on all four main XLR inputs (+12/+24/+48V). The unit also features gain control knobs and -20dB pads for each input. The recorder comes with a multichannel and stereo USB audio interface that lets you connect it to your PC, Mac, and iPad.

Built-In Effects

Zoom H8 can record up to 12 tracks simultaneously and it records directly to SD, SDHC and SDXC cards up to 512GB (cards not included). The unit comes with built-in effects, including low-cut filtering, compression, and limiting, along with Auto-record, Pre-record and Backup-record functions that will never let you miss that perfect take.

Prerecorded Sounds

Ideal for podcasters, the Zoom H8 Recorder features four Sound Pads to activate sound effects such as laughter and applause. The unit offers up to 13 prerecorded sounds to choose from or you can download your own sound effects too!

Up To 20 Hours of Operation

Zoom’s H8 Handy Recorder is powered by four AA alkaline or NiMH rechargeable batteries. It provides up to 20 hours of operation time with 4 AA alkaline batteries.
