Canon's EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS II Lens is a standard zoom lens, designed to be the ideal all-around zoom lens.  Created specifically for Canon cameras using the APS-C size sensor, it offers a 35mm equivalent focal range of 29-88mm.  Using incorporated Optical Image Stabilization technology, it provides up to 4 stops of compensation in order to battle image blur and camera shake that can occur at lower shutter speeds. Its optical design includes one aspherical element which helps to greatly reduce chromatic aberrations while ensure high contrast and true color fidelity. The circular nature of the aperture design creates a pleasing out-of-focus background bokeh effect.  This lens affords a 74° 20' - 27° 50' angle of view, 9.8" minimum focusing distance and accepts 58mm front-end filters.
