Casio PX-780 Privia 88-Key Digital Home Piano (Black) with Flip-Top Piano Bench and Learning Book

Casio PX-780 Privia 88-Key Digital Home Piano with Power Supply, 250 Instrument Tones (Black)

The Casio PX-780 Privia 88-Key Digital Home Piano represents a significant step in the continuing evolution of the Privia digital piano line. A combination of new keyboard action and a powerful new sound engine provide a new level of detail, nuance, and expression for a superior grand piano experience in a stylish design that Privia is known for.

Piano Sound

The award-winning grand piano sound in Privia has been dramatically improved. The new Casio PX-780 Privia 88-Key Digital Home Piano utilizes more than three times the memory of the previous generation for a more natural piano tone. In addition, Casio's new proprietary sound source AiR (Acoustic and intelligent Resonator) provides unmatched realism and detail. This engine provides seamless dynamics for a remarkably expressive and powerful performance. For further realism, a new Damper Resonance simulator provides the rich sound of the strings when the sustain pedal is used.

Key Action

The new PX-780 digital piano also features a new redesigned 88-note Tri-sensor scaled hammer action keyboard. This new action features new simulated Ebony and Ivory textured keys for an incredible feel and its three sensors capture the dynamics of a performance with unparalleled speed and accuracy. To further enhance the experience, the action and the sound engine take into consideration the speed at which different-sized hammers move inside the acoustic grand relative to the velocity the keys are pressed, this timing nuance provides the ultimate key to sound experience.

Powerful Features

The Casio PX-780 Privia 88-Key Digital Home Piano has a total of 250 instrument tones built-in. Strings, organs, electric pianos, brass, drums, bass, and more, and with the PX-780’s registration capability you can store your favorite splits and layers for live performance use. The PX-780 also has 180 drum patterns with full auto accompaniment and a 17-track recorder for composing your own songs. Ready for the stage or studio, the PX-780 has 1/4-inch audio outputs so you can easily connect the PX-780 to recording and sound reinforcement equipment.

USB MIDI

Casio continues the tradition of providing class-compliant USB connectivity on Privia digital pianos. This allows Privia to be used with Mac or Windows computers without the need for downloading drivers. Class-compliant USB MIDI also allows Privia digital pianos can also be used as a controller for the Apple iPad simply with the use of Apple's camera connection kit.

Air Sound Source

To reproduce the sound of the finest acoustic grand pianos, the new Privia series features Casio’s proprietary AiR (Acoustic and intelligent Resonator) processor. Accessing more than three times the memory of the previous generation, the AiR processor utilizes grand piano samples recorded at four dynamics sampling to deliver grand piano sounds with long natural decays and remarkable expression. To further the grand piano experience, AiR adds realism by simulating the sound of the open strings when the dampers are raised by the pedal.

About the Arranger

Jonathon Robbins grew up in a traditional family where he was the youngest of three children. Music was always present in the home since all three children played multiple instruments. Jonathon began studying the piano at age seven and studied privately with a focus in classical literature. At age of twelve, he supplemented his piano studies by learning to play the trumpet. Although piano was still his main instrument, at seventeen years old, he traveled to Europe to tour and play the trumpet with a nationally recognized ensemble. When it came time for college, family values led him away from the study of music, but after a year of college, Jonathon realized that his interests did not lie elsewhere. Jonathon chose a path that led him to Florida where he continued studying piano and began teaching students of all ages. While in Florida, he played and toured with a local stage band led by Fred Dean, a veteran of the “Big Band” era. After three years, Jonathon auditioned at several world-class institutions and chose the New England Conservatory, in Boston, where his studies included Piano Performance, Music Theory, Piano Pedagogy, and Music History. Jonathon spent many years teaching and performing in Boston while attending school. Later, armed with a world-class music education, he attended the Berklee College of Music to study writing, arranging, and film scoring. Soon after, Jonathon co-produced many music videos and live concerts, and served as the Music Director for the popular local television show, “Night Time with Tom Sage.”
