Canon EOS R8 Mirrorless Camera with RF 24-50mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM Lens
The EOS R8 combines high-performance full-frame capabilities with a lightweight and compact design. With a 24.2 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor, full use of EOS R-series interchangeable lenses, and highly advanced functionality and performance, the EOS R8 can deliver high-quality stills and movies. The new RF24–50mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM standard zoom lens is a super-compact, wide to-standard focal length zoom lens perfect for anyone looking for strong wide-angle still imagery and video combined with easy handling and portability
24.2 Megapixel Full-Frame CMOS Sensor
The EOS R8 camera captures stunning, detailed images with speed and accuracy, even in low light, due to the Canon-developed 24.2-million-pixel CMOS image sensor and DIGIC X Image Processor. The full-frame sensor allows for improved resolution at low ISO speeds and low noise at high ISO speeds, the wide dynamic range of still pictures, and significant improvement in rolling shutter compared to previous Canon cameras when shooting fast-moving subjects and quick panning.
In-Camera Compositing
With its built-in image processing, the EOS R8 camera provides in-camera compositing including Moving Subject HDR, Depth Compositing, Panoramic Shot, HDR Night Scene, and HDR Backlight control so you can capture creative imagery that is challenging with conventional single-shot techniques.
High-Speed, High-Precision Autofocus
Dual Pixel CMOS AF II is a highly responsive system that covers up to approximately 100% x 100% of the picture area, breaking the image into up to 1,053 automatically-selected AF zones during Whole Area AF. This enables outstanding AF coverage on the EOS R8 camera, and the compositional freedom to focus sharply on a subject nearly anywhere in the frame.
Accurate Subject Detection and Tracking
Developed using Deep Learning Technology, horses, trains, and airplanes are detectable, in addition to conventional subjects like people, animals including dogs, cats and birds, and vehicles — cars and motorcycles — especially in a motorsports environment. For more ease of use, Auto mode is now available, in which the camera automatically selects the type of subject without the need to switch the Subject Detection setting in the menu. The EOS R8 camera will continue to track the movement and continuously focus on the subject.
Head, Face, and Eye Detection
The EOS R8 camera can locate and focus upon a person’s head, face, or eye when the Subject Detection menu is set to People. This allows for more ease of use, fast acquisition of your subject, and improvements to accuracy when capturing videos or still images, even in difficult shooting situations where many cameras may struggle to detect a subject. Additional control is now available for detecting the subject’s left or right eye – which can be also programmed to a Custom Button making it easy to focus on the preferred eye in the moment.
Animal Detection
Effectively track the whole body, face, or eye of cats, dogs, birds, and now horses, for speed and precision — regardless of the animal’s size, posture, or orientation of the face.
Ample Features for Video Creators
With video recording features such as 6K oversampled uncropped 4K movie at up to 60 fps, Full-HD High-frame rate movie recording at up to 180 fps, and Dual Pixel CMOS AF tracking, the EOS R8 camera makes it easy to step up your video content.
Continuous Movie Recording That Exceeds 30 Minutes
The EOS R8 camera can continuously record 4K UHD or Full HD video for up to 2 hours at 29.97 fps, allowing you to set up your video and keep your project rolling without worrying about it stopping.
HDR PQ / Canon Log 3
Though the EOS R8 camera can record impressive video straight out of camera, content creators looking to take the next step in their imaging journey have the choice of two powerful video recording options in HDR PQ or Canon Log 3 video recording. With HDR PQ recording a 10-bit color file is recorded that does not require additional editing, this 10bit HDR file is compatible with HDR displays such as TVs, monitors and smartphones which display your video with even more color accuracy and dynamic range than standard displays. For creators who like to edit their video files, Canon Log 3 is available, creating a 10bit log file which allows for powerful recovery of highlights and shadows as well as creative color grading capability.
Vertical Movie Mode and Aspect Markers
Movie rotation information can be set during or after movie recording, allowing videos to be played in vertical composition when viewing on a smartphone. The Aspect Markers Function displays visual markers for different aspect ratios that may be desired for posting the same file to various social media sites. This display provides consideration for proper composition for the different deliverable files that can be created when editing.
Movie Digital IS
Record stable videos efficiently with minimum equipment, even when shooting handheld, with Movie Digital IS 5-axis image stabilization6. Camera-shake vibrations are reduced even more through coordinated control of Movie Digital IS when using a RF lens featuring optical image stabilization.
UVC Livestreaming
UVC/UAC compatibility allows the EOS R8 camera to be used as a web camera to stream live video in Full HD, without additional computer software, to applications such as Zoom™, Microsoft Teams™, Skype™, and similar video conferencing software. Thanks to the full-frame image sensor, you’ll be able to have versatility in your exposure, as well as strong background separation when using bright aperture lenses for video conferencing, or live streaming content.
DJI RS 3 Gimbal Stabilizer
The DJI RS 3 Gimbal Stabilizer provides solo creators and independent crews with a versatile and efficient filming experience in every detail. It's slim and light, with excellent stabilization and control for more creative flexibility and unlimited possibilities. When you're ready, the DJI RS 3 is ready to go.
Plates with a Quick-Release Mechanism
Mounting a camera to the RS 3 is quick and easy with dual-layered quick-release plates, and there's no need to re-balance the gimbal after swapping out a new battery or memory card. When changing lenses, a newly incorporated fine-tuning knob on the tilt axis allows the camera to glide forward or backward with millimeter-grade precision, making correct balancing easier.
Automated Axis Lock
The RS 3 allows you to get up and running quickly. When you push and hold the power button when the gimbal is turned off, the three axes unlock and the gimbal extends automatically, allowing you to begin working in seconds. The axes automatically lock and enter sleep mode when you press the power button once, making transit and travel much more efficient. It will fold and lock automatically if you press and hold the power button.
Shutter Control through Wi-Fi
The RS 3 provides wireless shutter control thanks to Dual-Mode Bluetooth, which saves time and effort with every use. You may control video and photo shooting by just pushing the record button on the stabilizer after the initial Bluetooth hookup. After the initial use, previously paired cameras will automatically rejoin, removing the requirement for a camera control cord.
Excellent Weight-to-Payload Ratio
The RS 3 may be comfortably held in one hand, weighing only 1.3 kg/2.8 lb (with gimbal, battery grip, and quick-release plates), yet its 3kg/6.6 lb load capacity is more than enough to carry mainstream cameras like the Sony A7S3 or Canon R5 with a 24-70mm F2.8 lens.
Algorithm for 3rd-Generation RS Stabilization
The RS 3 provides greater stability in any condition thanks to a next-generation RS stabilization algorithm. Laboratory testing demonstrates that RS 3 is 20% more stable than RSC 2, allowing you to comfortably manage low-angle pictures, running scenarios, and moving between high and low locations.
Beyond Smooth
Turn on SuperSmooth mode if you want even smoother results. The RS 3 will increase motor torque to improve stabilization even further, resulting in stable film even in fast-moving situations or while using 100mm-equivalent focal lenses.
1.8-Inch OLED Touchscreen
In comparison to the RSC 2, which has a black and white screen, the RS 3 has a 1.8-inch OLED full-color touchscreen with an 80 percent larger display. With the revamped user interface, it also supports most Ronin app settings, offering straightforward and accurate control.
Mode Switching in a Flash
You may switch between Pan follow, Pan and Tilt follow, and FPV modes by sliding the new gimbal mode switch. The FPV mode selection may also be changed to 3D Roll 360, Portrait, or Custom, allowing you to fine-tune your setup and get flying quickly.
Customizable Front Dial
You can regulate zoom and focus by rotating the front dial. It may also be programmed to control the shutter, aperture, ISO, or gimbal movements of the camera, making it ideal for single-handed use.
Monitoring via Smartphone
The RS 3 supports the Ronin Image Transmitter (previously known as the Ronin RavenEye Image Transmitter) to transmit 1080p/30fps HD live feeds directly to a mobile device. The maximum transmission distance is 200 meters and the end-to-end transmission latency is as low as 60 ms. A smartphone can also be attached to the NATO port on RS 3 with the phone holder for wireless monitoring.
Integrated Monitoring and Control
To achieve an integrated monitoring and control experience, alter camera exposure directly in the Ronin app or manipulate the gimbal with the virtual joystick.
Quick-Release Design
In comparison to the RSC 2, the new RS 3 battery grip has a quick-release design, making it easier to swap batteries and smaller for storage. It can even be charged without the use of the gimbal.
12-Hour Run Time Plus Quick Charging
The new battery grip has a 12-hour runtime, which is sufficient for continuous shooting throughout the day. It supports 18W PD fast charging and takes only 2.5 hours to charge. It can even be used to keep the RS 3 powered practically indefinitely while charging.
