Sigma 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 DC MACRO OS HSM Contemporary Lens for Sigma SA
Sigma's 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 DC Macro OS HSM Contemporary Lens for Sigma SA is another addition to the Sigma Global Vision Contemporary line. With a 16.6x zoom ratio covering focal lengths from wide to telephoto, this lens also offers a 1:3 macro ratio. The Sigma 18-300mm Contemporary was designed for APS-C cameras where it equates to a 27-450mm lens and incorporates state-of-the-art Sigma technology. An enhanced optical stabilizer (OS) compensates for camera shake, while an optimized hyper sonic motor (HSM) ensures quiet and fast autofocus. Four FLD (performance equal to fluorite) paired with 1 SLD glass elements capture incredible sharp and contrasted images, all the way through the focal length. Utilizing top quality glass, the Sigma 18-300mm Contemporary controls aberration, even at the telephoto end to produce high quality images.
C - Contemporary lens
This Contemporary lens combines modern techniques and materials in order to deliver a concept which combines a streamlined, lightweight construction with best-in-class optical quality and performance. This compact lens is one you trust for a variety of everyday applications.
DC – DC for Digital
These are special lenses designed for APS-C size sensors so that the image circle matches the smaller size of the image sensor of most digital SLR cameras. Their specialized design gives these lenses the ideal properties for digital cameras, the compact and lightweight construction is an added bonus!
HSM - Quiet and Fast Autofocusing
HSM lenses employ a motor powered by ultrasonic waves that produce a quiet, yet high-speed AutoFocus. You can enjoy high performance with low noise in a variety of shooting situations.
OS - Optical Stabilizer
This function utilizes a built-in mechanism that compensates for camera shake. It dramatically expands photographic possibilities by alleviating cameras movement when shooting by hand held camera.
Emphasizing Image Quality
A high ratio zoom lens often requires compactness and enhancement of additional features, to be capable enough to cover various shooting scenes with convenience and versatility. Even with a high ratio zoom lens, our goal is to satisfy enthusiastic photographers with the versatility of the lens and its optical performance. Therefore, we sought for the point where all the pieces, such as specification, performance and size, fall into place, and this lens is the fruit of this journey.
F Low Dispersion Glass (FLD)
Sigma's FLD glass stands for F Low Dispersion, constructed from a material equal in performance to fluorite glass. This specially engineered optic element allows for exceptional correction for residual chromatic aberration. Its density is less than traditional glass, allowing the overall construction of the lens to be lighter and more efficient.
Rounded Diaphragm
When photographing with point light sources such as electric lights or reflections on a body of water in the background, the rounded 7-blade diaphragm helps produce an attractive bokeh effect - even at large-aperture settings.
