Sony Cyber-shot RX100M III 20.1 MP Digital Camera

The Sony DSC-RX100M III Cyber-shot Digital Camera allows you to take the quality of your photos to the next level. Combining 20.1 MP (effective) image quality, a built-in electronic viewfinder (EVF), brighter and wider ZEISS lens, and compact size, the fixed-lens RX100 III is crafted for serious photographers on the go. Its unique combination of features also makes it an ideal choice for pros looking for a second camera to complement their interchangeable lens model. The 1.0-type Exmor R back-illuminated CMOS sensor ensures bright, clear detail in all your photos and video. Sony's special back-illuminated design permits four times better light capture by moving light-blocking wire circuitry to the back side of the sensor.

XAVC S2, AVCHD and MP4 Codes

The DSC-RX100 III records HD movies in the XAVC S2 format, which uses MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 for video compression and linear PCM for audio compression, while saving files in a MP4 wrapper. The highly compressed files allow extensive record times. With 50Mbps Full HD (1920x1080) 60p high quality video recording, XAVC S2 enables beautiful video recording with minimal compression noise even in scenes with a lot of movement. Linear PCM is adopted for audio compression. The camera also records in AVCHD, ideal for quality video for HDTV and Blu-ray Disc burning. Additionally, users can shoot the easily shareable MP4 HD video, ideal for web.

HDMI Clear Output

Clear, uncompressed digital movie signal output can be transferred to an external monitor/recorder (connected via the HDMI terminal) simultaneously in real time from the RX100 III. The shooting info display can be turned off for even cleaner views of such movies on an external monitor/recorder. Frame rates include 24p, 60p and 60

Tiltable LCD Screen

This screen allows you to view and frame a shot clearly, the tiltable LCD screen is fast, flexible and works in bright sunlight + new LCD screen shows more details. This is a great feature for taking shots above the head of crowds, or low down from pet’s eye view. Just tilt the screen and frame your shot.

Built-in SVGA OLED Viewfinder

View every scene in rich detail with the bright and retractable SVGA OLED Tru-Finder. The viewfinder faithfully displays what will appear in your recording, including the effects of your camera settings, so you can accurately monitor the results. The ZEISS T* coating enhances clarity and reduces flare and reflection in the eyepiece optics.

Wi-Fi with NFC

Connectivity with smartphones for One-touch sharing/One-touch remote has been simplified with Wi-Fi/NFC control. In addition to Wi-Fi support for connecting to smartphones, the DSC-RX100 III also supports NFC - providing “touch connection” convenience when transferring images to compatible Android smartphones and tablets. Users need only touch devices to connect; no complex set-up is required. Moreover, when using Smart Remote Control connection between DSC-RX100 III and the smartphone can be established by simply touching devices.

F1.8 Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* Lens

The DSC-RX100 III sports an all new bright F1.8-2.8 Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* lens with 24-70mm zoom. The lens is perfect for portraits and macro shots with beautiful defocused - bokeh backgrounds. A premium multi-layered T* coating also dramatically reduces ghost and flare caused by light reflection.

Sony Cyber-shot RX100M III 20.1 MP Digital Camera SKU: DSCRX100M3B

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Buggy after three years' use My DSC-RX100M3 has been a workhorse for the past three years--I bought it for wide angle and low-light uses, and it has been great in those respects--but in the past year the C/Delete button has started triggering the recording function (incredibly annoying) and the software stopped working (terrible software, but the only way to transfer files from the camera via wifi). There have been no firmware updates while I've had the camera, it's out of warranty, etc. Sony should do more to stand by their products.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Features Very Fragile I bought this camera 4 months ago. I was very satisfied and took stunning pictures with it. To my bad luck I mistakenly dropped the camera once. The edge of the viewfinder got misshaped which caused that I cant open the viewfinder and the camera constantly monitors that its open (viewfinder starts working). Its still under the one year warranty. I hope to contact Sony soon and see what's my further steps.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great camera! If this camera would have had bulb mode, I would buy more of them without blinking. Dear product team, please note that bulb mode doesn't have to be unlimited, I understand that the sensor might get damaged, but 1min or even 30s would be enough, even 10s if is not possible more. This feature Is VERY VERY useful to control exactly when the exposure stops. Please consider adding it in a future firmware update!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love this camera!!!! Maybe not intended but this camera opens a new world for nature photography!!!. It is rugged, waterproof and can be remote controlled. Time lapse option is also useful leaving the camera to take pictures for hours. I love this thing!!!! (just please extend wireless remote control range

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Understandably Underrated Camera It's a great little camera to have for vlogging and documentation. The quality is on par with some larger cameras and the audio is pretty good for an internal microphone. There are just a few aspects where I feel Sony is out of date. Firstly, the menu system is a bit much for a camera of this size. I do understand why it's there, but I also believe that a lot of the available options go unused. A simpler touch menu system would be a better choice if possible. Secondly, with other cameras supporting USB-C I don't understand why this camera does not. The majority of my equipment now uses this standard so I find it inconvenient to have to carry around a micro USB cable only for this camera. Lastly is the app. I don't use it. It's buggy and does a terrible job of transferring data. I've run tests and a 10sec clip would take me upwards of a minute to transfer. Instead, I just transfer media the traditional way with my SD card. I really enjoy this camera for the most part. I find it to be really handy in tight situations. But I think there were a lot of missed opportunities here. A few minor tweaks could make this camera 10x better.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth the price. This is not worth the price just because of the quality so what, not worth it at all.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from For the price... Too many drawbacks Basicaly no IS (digital is utter... let's sey it doesn't count) and no tracking AF is not a problem, as I shoot it rigged somehow. Slow lens... I will live with that. After all it is tiny. Hard to navigate? I will just set it up and will not change. But the sensor? Really? That is supposed to be the key selling point. It was supposed to be type 1". Instead it uses 15.3Mpx out of 20Mpx which is 75%. It achieves 24mm eqivalent at 7.7-7.9mm instead of 8.8-9mm. Its crop is not x2.7 like it should be in 1", but x3.1 istead. With f/4 lens it is simply dark. Low light performance is not satisfying. It was supposed to smash actioncams in that regard. In fact the difference is barely noticeable. It has a form of actioncam but lacks its key features like wide FoV and proper IS. You could easily make it a bit bigger, avoid comparison to Gopro, use the whole sensor, and faster lens with some regulation of f-stops, tracking AF and IS, to make it proper camera for videographer.
