Featuring 10.2MP Full-frame Backside-illuminated (BSI) Exmor R CMOS sensor, the Sony Alpha FX3 Camera offers sensitivity, speed, and excellent movie quality. Network, User interface, and file management processing are distributed so that stress-free control response is maintained regardless of real-time processing load. It also features improved menu response and high-speed write to CFexpress Type A memory cards. The built-in engine delivers high sensitivity and natural gradations, realistic color reproduction, low noise, and other image quality improvements. 

S-Cinetone for that Expressive Cinematic Look

With the S-Cinetone, users can easily create a cinematic look without post-production. It produces natural mid-tones, plus soft colors and impressive highlights that are essential to cinematic expression. S-Cinetone is the default for Picture Profile 11 (PP11) on the FX3. 

Cage-free Design

The FX3 has a compact and cage-free design. You do not require a camera cage because it comes with six standard 1/4-inch-20 UNC threaded mounting points to securely attach compatible accessories such as external monitors, recorders, wireless microphones, or other add-ons. The supplied handle with XLR interface securely attaches to the body via the Multi Interface Shoe without any tools and provides three additional thread holes. Since no cage is required, the system has a lightweight design and size which makes transportation and setup easier.

Weighing just 1.576 lbs (715 g), the FX3 features a design that eliminates the need for a cage, it offers a versatile shooting experience. Digital XLR on Top Handle, MI Shoe, and 3.5mm Jack Audio Options 

The FX3 features multiple input options to suit your needs in any situation. The body includes a standard 3.5 mm mic. jack, Sony’s digital MI (Multi-Interface) shoe for cable-free connection with compatible MI shoe microphones, and the XLR top handle include a 3.5mm mic jack and two balanced XLR/TRS audio inputs, which enables high-quality audio to the FX3. With an optional XLR or TRS microphone connected, the XLR module on the handle takes care of the A/D (Analogue to Digital) conversion and DSP (Digital Signal Processing) and transfers the digital audio data directly to the camera for excellent quality.

Even at f/2.8, the excellent contrast at high spatial frequencies provides great resolution. Two high-precision XA (extreme aspherical) elements, two ED (extra-low dispersion) glass elements, two Super ED glass elements and a floating focus mechanism control chromatic aberration, astigmatism, distortion and coma at all zoom and aperture setting. For exceptional clarity, Nano ARCoating II reduces flare and ghosting.

Stunning G Master Bokeh

Thanks to superior optical design and a redesigned 11-blade aperture mechanism, f/2.8 bokeh extends across the zoom range. Bokeh is improved by precise control of spherical aberration during design and for each lens during manufacture. Onion ring bokeh is suppressed by two XA elements with 0.01-micron precision. With a maximum magnification of 0.32x, the minimum focusing distance is 0.21 metres at 24 mm and 0.30 metres at 70 mm.

This lens delivers exceptional flexibility and freedom as the smallest and lightest f/2.8 24–70 mm zoom in its class. The lens is 191 grams lighter than the previous model, weighing only 695 gram. Its length has been shortened by 16 mm. Approximately 18% of the total volume has been reduced. Fast, Precise AF and Excellent Response

Four of Sony's original XD (extreme dynamic) Linear Motors, a floating focus mechanism and advanced lens control achieve high AF precision. This lens has approximately 2x better tracking performance while zooming than the previous model. The lens can shoot at up to 30 frames per second when used with a compatible body. The redesigned aperture unit also contributes to high speed, allowing for full AF tracking performance even when shooting with the aperture stopped down.

Movie Features Refined for Visual Creators

For smooth, expressive movie imagery, the latest lens design technology reduces unwanted image shifts and angle-of-view variations. The XD Linear Motors improve tracking and AF performance, allowing for high-frame-rate recording of fine detail. Linear Response MF enables direct, linear focus ring response while focusing manually.

The upgraded dust- and moisture-resistant design adds to the durability of this lens for outdoor use in harsh situations. The front element is kept clean by a fluorine coating. A special aperture in the included lens hood allows for easy operation of circular polarising and variable ND filters (optional). For simple access and control when shooting in any orientation, two customisable focus hold buttons are provided.

Minimal Flare and Ghosting

Nano Anti-Reflective Coating II technology creates a consistent anti-reflection coating on lens surfaces, reducing flare and ghosting. Internal reflections, which can reduce clarity when shooting landscapes, sports, and a variety of other subjects, are reduced by the lens' construction.

Dedicated Aperture Ring and Iris Lock Switches

The aperture ring allows for quick and direct control. When shooting stills, the aperture ring click stops can be switched on for tactile feedback, or off for smooth, quiet operation when shooting movies. The iris lock switch that restricts the aperture ring from being accidentally moved between the [A] and F2.8~ F22 settings.
