Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 DI VC USD Zoom Lens for Canon

Tamron's SP 24-70mm is a high quality, highly functional, high speed standard zoom lens covering the 24-70mm focal range. It includes both Tamron's proprietary VC (Vibration Compensation) Image stabilization to reduce shake and its USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive) motor, enabling speedy, silent autofocusing. This SP (Super Performance) series lens makes full use of specialized glass elements in its lens layout, designed with top priority on image quality, including three LD elements and two XR (Extra Refractive Index) glasses. Tamron has minimized all types of chromatic aberration in the SP 24-70mm, making it a lens at the top of its class whether you use it on a digital APS-C, full frame, or 35mm SLR camera. The SP 24-70mm f/2.8 aperture enables a balance between brilliant resolution and beautiful soft blur effects. This ideal lens makes full use of Tamron's rounded diaphragm and the uncontrived, artistic blur that it provides. It is also Tamron's first lens to feature our new moisture-resistant construction. Portraits, Landscapes, Studio Shoots, this is the lens for them all. Capture the finest details of your images in precisely the way you have always wanted to. Extend your art to the limits of your inspiration with the Tamron SP 24-70mm.

Tamron Di Lens
Tamron Di lenses are lenses designed for digital SLR cameras.

Super Performance (SP) for Discriminating Shooters
Tamron Super Performance (SP) is a line of high performance lenses which have been engineered to the specifications of demanding professionals who require the highest image quality possibly.  This series of lenses has been designed with unsurpassed performance parameters as its first priority, regardless of cost constraints.  This means any Tamron lens bearing the SP designation displays innovative and groundbreaking features that have been testing to meet the rigors of any professional photography situation.

Extra Refractive Index Glass
Extra Refractive Index Glass actively bends light at steeper angles.  By bending the light to steeper angles, Tamron is able to decrease the physical length of the lens while enhancing image performance.  This technology has resulted in Tamron building a series of shorter, smaller and lighter lenses without having to sacrifice speed or image quality.  XR Glass yields an enhanced optical power distribution.  Experience the convenience of Tamron lenses that are smaller and less cumbersome than similar class lenses.

Vibration Compensation
Vibration Compensation is Tamron's state-of-the-art Image Stabilization System.  The leading cause of blurry, uncrisp pictures is hand held camera shake.  Tamron's VR technology is designed to combat handheld camera shake, leaving your pictures crystal clear.  This Tamron lens sense the amplitude and direction of the shake and appropriately compensates by moving the optical groups within the lens.  Unlike most image stabilization systems, Tamron's VC system uses a tri-axial configuration that accounts for movement in all three dimensions.  A gyro sensor, combined with a 32-bit RISC CPU and Tamron’s proprietary Algorithms and actuator, provides unrivaled performance. All of this technology combines to provide Tamron VC lenses up to a 4-stop advantage in shooting sharp pictures at slower shutter speeds.

Ultrasonic Silent Drive
Tamron's Ultrasonic Silent Drive employs a USD Motor which allows for a fast and quiet autofocus drive.  By using the ultrasonic vibrations produced by the strator, energy is used to create deflective traveling waves which move around the rotational direction of the lens.  This moves the focusing lens ring, which produces a super quick and exceptionally smooth auto-focus drive.  This lens will quickly and reliably snap images without lag or noise from the focusing mechanisms.

Low Dispersion (LD) Glass for Greater Lens Sharpness
Tamron's Low Dispersion technology is engineered to reduce chromatic aberrations, eliminating the tendency of light of different colors to focus to different points at the image plane.  This means your images will come out crisp and clear, with less of a chance of defracting light into an unwanted rainbow of colors.  Take shots exactly like you want, without any flare-up or blurring.
